Meet Skip Collins
Founder, President & Lead Designer
Before & After Builders was founded by Skip Collins, a remodeling professional whose reputation has been built on integrity, craftsmanship, and a hands-on approach to every project.
Originally from the South, Skip moved to Tennessee as a teenager and later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Tennessee. He also proudly served as a Captain in the United States Army’s 1st Cavalry Division, where he developed the leadership principles, discipline, and commitment to excellence that continue to guide his business today.
Those experiences shaped Skip’s belief that trust, accountability, and doing what you say you’ll do should never be optional.
They’re the foundation of every project.
A Lifelong Passion For Building
Skip’s passion for construction began long before Before & After Builders was established.
At just fourteen years old, he started working alongside his uncle, a master electrician, learning the fundamentals of construction by pulling wire and assisting on job sites. Throughout college, he worked for contractors building homes, apartment complexes, and commercial projects, gaining hands-on experience that would ultimately shape his career.
Over the years, that experience evolved into a deep understanding of remodeling, design, construction management, and most importantly, what homeowners need from their contractor.
Today, Skip personally handles the design process for many projects, helping clients navigate selections, layouts, finishes, and design decisions while ensuring every renovation reflects their goals and lifestyle.

Skip is also an active servant-leader at First Christian Church, where he continues to invest his time and energy into serving others and strengthening the local community.
